Dr. Samuel Woolley is a writer and researcher specializing in the study of automation/AI, politics, persuasion, and social media. He’s an Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Program Director of propaganda research at the Center for Media Engagement, both at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the founding director of the Digital Intelligence Lab at the Institute for the Future, a 50-year-old think-tank based in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Sam is co-founder and former research director of the Computational Propaganda Project at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. In his book ‘The Reality Game: How the Next Wave of Technology Will Break the Truth,’ Woolley discusses the key signs that the next wave of disinformation will move from social media to new frontiers including virtual and augmented reality platforms, AI-driven virtual assistant systems, and other forms of technology designed in the human image.

 His work has been presented to members of NATO, the U.S. Congress and the U.K. Parliament.
